In addition to intuitively combining parts more efficiently, SigmaNEST better recognizes part features or openings for additional part nesting. Information is stored on unique part requirements such as grain direction (an important parameter with stainless steel). The software quickly and efficiently nests these parts in one specific orientation.

“We had a large laser cutting order for an HVAC rail car project that comprised some 400 unique part numbers, all cut from seven different combinations of material type and thickness,” said General Manager, Tim Meade. “Our previous laser cutting software nested the parts on 265 sheets. It took 40 man-hours to whittle that down to 200 sheets. SigmaNEST nested the job on 200 sheets in about 8 hours.”
