Nearly 100 manufacturers joined us at our signature annual event, SigmaTEK Acadmey. SigmaTEK Academy is an open community conference designed to empower professional fabricators and manufacturers by providing them with in-depth knowledge and training from leading industry experts. The theme of the conference, held at the Sharonville Convention Center on the 9th and 10th of May, was “Launch.”

In years past, the event was held at the SigmaTEK Cincinnati headquarters located at 1445 Kemper Meadow Dr. Moving the event to the Sharonville Convention Center allowed us to enroll more attendees and provided a professional setting for manufacturers around the country to network. The two-day event featured dozens of speakers from SigmaTEK as well as outside companies. Speakers included Paul Ikeda, Product Director, SX at SigmaTEK and keynote speaker Brian Quinn, Vice President of Services at CBTS. Topics ranged from CO2 vs. Fiber Laser to Cloud-Native applications.

Throughout both days, attendees could choose which sessions to join, with three different topic sessions available every hour. Manufacturers could also schedule one-on-one time with SigmaTEK Application Engineers to tackle specific problems and receive answers to crucial questions effecting their efficiency and use of their current software.

One participant, Casey Cordell of Precision Waterjet Inc, in Crystal Lake, Illinois found the Academy to be helpful and stated,

“(the) sessions that I was able to attend brought me a ton of information from importing and exporting parts to nesting…maximizing my yield per shield…overall I received an incredible amount of information that I’m definitely going to bring back to Precision Waterjet and this will allow us to maximize our productivity with the software we have. I will definitely be at the next (Academy).”

SigmaTEK Academy staff welcomed guests in the lobby of the convention center with swag bags as attendees browsed the booths of the event sponsors which included: Cincinnati, Voortman Steel Group, Murata Machinery USA, Inc, Modern Machinery Company, IPG Photonics, SME, Balluff and SOITAAB. The dates for the 2018 SigmaTEK Academy have been set for May 8th and 9th and will again be held at the Sharonville Convention Center.
