Expectations were that a new 6-axis machine would deliver advanced laser tube cutting for structural weldments. However, because existing tube cutting software was limited in functionality and difficult to learn, only a couple of people were capable of programming the machines. These drawbacks created unnecessary production bottlenecks and did not produce the anticipated return on investment.
Exceeding Expectations with SigmaTUBE
In 2014 ACE switched to SigmaTUBE. “SigmaTUBE provides the ability to program and nest complete assemblies without exporting individual parts,” explained ACE Metal Craft, Vice President of Engineering, Kevin Bailey. “The tube cutting software is intuitive and easier to use than the software supplied with the tube laser. Rather than importing individual parts to program one by one. ACE can now import an entire assembly, program, and nest. This saves huge amounts of time, and creates a much more streamlined process. “Time and cost savings have been improved measurably,” said Bailey. “In our case these improvements equate to very significant programming savings.”
