SigmaNEST Product Feature: Cut-to-Length
|
Cut-to-Length is SigmaTEK’s solution to optimize steel bar processing. This feature allows users to cut bars into parts of different lengths, ensuring the least amount of remnant. By allowing manufacturers to combine work orders according to bar type and thickness, Cut-to-Length eliminates costly remnants and scrap. Cut-to-Length saves manufacturers a substantial amount of programming time by completely automating the segment nesting process. It also integrates seamlessly with MRP and ERP systems to ensure optimal accuracy in quoting and operations. Remnants are handled and updated to the system to inform the user of work orders that have been completed. The developers at SigmaTEK are working hard to implement miter cuts and bundles for future use.

Tech Tip: Importing Geometry
|
One of the new features in SigmaNEST Version 9.0E is the alteration in the way geometry is imported. As you may have noticed, when importing a DXF there are a few noted changes in the options on the right hand side of the dialog box.
The first one is the “No Layer Mapping” option which will import geometry with no level mapping of any kind. In the previous version, when the “Do Layer Mapping” feature was not checked, it used the layer mapping from the SigmaNEST configuration menu.
Another change to note is that “Interactive Layer Mapping” replaces the “Do Level Mapping” option and, when used, opens “Import Dialog.” This allows the user to turn on and off options, and set how layers and levels are processed.
A new option, “Desktop Layer Mapping,” allows the programmer to use a predefined desktop (saved configuration settings) for import which bypasses the import dialog.
