Subscription (Maintenance) Renewal Update
|
|
All subscription (maintenance) renewal dates are being changed to the first of the month to allow for better account management. Along with this change, there is now a grace period until the end of the renewal month so that customers who have an expiration date at the end of the month are not shorted any time.

Tech Tip: SigmaNEST Performance and Anti-Virus Software
|
|
Most anti-virus packages have a real-time scanning option that intercepts and scans every file write as it is taking place. Using this scanning option can have a tremendous impact on SigmaNEST's performance - making some operations up to 10 times slower. The effect is most noticeable when shutting down SigmaNEST and when opening and closing some dialog boxes that display information in grids or display configuration information.
One of the following approaches can restore SigmaNEST's performance:
- If your policy permits it, use periodic scans instead of real-time scans.
- Exclude the \ProgramData\SigmaTEK folder, the SNData folder and all their sub-folders (particularly the SNData\Posts folder) from the virus scan.
There are no executable files here, so there is no possibility of a virus infecting the system.
- Exclude files with .ini and .xml extensions from the virus scans. Again, these are plain text files that cannot introduce viruses.

Version 9 - Feature Recognition
|
SigmaNEST Version 9 brings an effortless feature for importing models with drilled or formed features. SolidWorks, Inventor, Pro/E models using their hole creation feature can now be imported in SigmaNEST Version 9 with no loss of information. SigmaNEST will automatically assign drill, tap, counter bore, or counter sink properties. For the punching machines, formed features such as louvers, lances, and embosses can now be imported from SolidWorks and mapped to tools in the SigmaNEST tool library.
For more information about SigmaNEST Version 9, contact your Regional Sales Manager, or visit your Version 9 webpage.
