One nesting software for all your major profile cutting and punching machines.

In This Edition:

“Just in Time” Production

With some indications that the economy’s downturn is slowing and even turning upward in some industries, now is the time to make sure you’re ready to handle “Just in Time” (JIT) orders.

SigmaNEST offers a number of add-on modules to automate various processes in the order/production cycle, including file retrieval and sharing between multiple systems or software and intermingling parts from multiple orders in a single nest with easy identification following cutting. In addition, JIT solutions manage the cycle of communicating job completed status, running the program on the machine, and nesting the next task in preparation to run on the machine.

These solutions will be featured in the JIT breakout session during the Power of 9 Road Show Summits in September. Learn more about SimTrans, Console, Color Offload, and Load Manage solutions.

Or if you can’t attend the summits, contact your regional sales manager or send a message to sales@sigmanest.com.

Introducing SigmaBEND

SigmaTEK Systems is launching a new press brake solution that maximizes the speed, quality and flexibility of the bending process with full 3-D simulation. SigmaBEND™ supports many bending processes including air bending, die bending, and 3-point bending.

Advantages:
Speed

  • Faster, more reliable programming away from machine tool
  • Shorter programming time with CAD integration and automatic features
  • Shorter set-up time with quick access to manufacturing information
  • Better re-use of NC-programs

Quality:

  • Fewer design errors:
    • Centralized database
    • Integrated with the CAD/CAM system
  • Check the process via realistic bending simulation
  • Eliminate costly programming errors with collision check

Flexibility

  • Machine-independent CAM system: direct switching between different press brakes
  • Better production planning
  • Less dependent on a specific person’s knowledge with standardized programming

Tech Tip: NC Reorder

Tech Tip

SigmaNEST users sometimes need to quickly reorder NC'd parts. Whether it's a "first article inspection," "hot rush" part, or a change in cutting sequence, SigmaNEST provides a feature for quick changes or emergency reordering.

The Reorder function is available after applying NC to nested parts. Once the NC has been applied, locate the reorder tool under the Edit, Reorder menu items. The rapid moves disappear and the reorder dialog is displayed. The cutting sequence can now be manually sorted by contour.

By right clicking in the reorder window, the users can modify the selection method from individual contours to Parts, Tool ID, Tool Angle or Tool Usage.

When selecting by contours, the reorder dialog displays both internal and external contour cuts that can be moved individually or grouped by holding the Ctrl key and selecting multiple cuts. The blue up and down arrows move the cuts up or down in the cut sequence. The "X" next to the arrows deletes NC from the selected individual contours. Selecting the sort button will apply the reordered sequence.

Once the order is completed, close the reorder dialog. The rapid moves are then displayed again.
