Supported Operating Systems
This represents the policy on the operating systems supported by SigmaTEK products. These include, but are not limited to, all editions and packages of SigmaNEST, Cut-to-Length, Rotary Tube Cutter, etc.
The SigmaTEK policy is closely modelled on Microsoft's support policy for the same operating systems.
Note: This is not the support policy for SigmaTEK products themselves. It is the policy for supported operating systems only.
Microsoft Policy
Details of Microsoft's policy on the support of the various editions of Windows can be found in the Lifecycle section of the Microsoft support web site.
The essence of the policy is:
- Mainstream support is for 5 years from the product's introduction.
- Extended support may be available in some cases for 1 or 2 years at an extra charge.
- Self help support is available for up to 8 years after the product's introduction.
SigmaTEK Policy
The following SigmaTEK policy applies in all cases except where a specific exception is noted.
- SigmaTEK products are only supported on the business editions of Windows. Consumer editions are not supported.
- Windows CE and Pocket PC are not supported.
- SigmaTEK products are supported on editions of Windows that are in their mainstream support cycle.
- SigmaTEK may offer support for a product on a version of Windows during its extended support phase for a premium of 25% over the applicable support fee in the first year of extended support and 50% in the second year.
- SigmaTEK does not support any products on operating system versions that are in the self help phase.
- A specific version of a SigmaTEK product is supported on any updated version of a supported edition of Windows that is introduced within 1 year of the introduction of the SigmaTEK product. For example, If SigmaNEST version 6 is introduced in June 2003, it is supported on any update to Windows XP Professional that is introduced before June 2004. If any incompatibilities are introduced by the new version of Windows, these will be addressed by minor updates to the existing release. Beyond that date, a newer version of SigmaNEST may be required to retain support for the duration of the Windows XP mainstream lifecycle. By contrast, if SigmaNEST version 5 was introduced in January 2002, it is not required to support the new version of Windows. It may be necessary to upgrade to SigmaNEST version 6 to retain compatibility.
SigmaTEK Systems reserves the right to amend or rescind this policy at any time.

Supported operating systems with the current termination dates for mainstream and extended support:

Note: SigmaTEK products are not supported on Windows 95, the first edition of Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition or Windows XP Home Edition. Windows 98 SE is already in the extra cost, extended support phase.
