June 1, 2005, Cincinnati, OH: SigmaTEK announces that the installation of the Trumpf Trumatic 2020R at United Displaycraft in Des Plaines, IL has been extremely successful. They are utilizing SigmaNEST on their Mazak Turbo 1500 W load/unload and recently added the software to their new Trumpf 2020R.

Deciding to use SigmaNEST on both their laser and punch machines was an easy choice simply because the OEM software was not capable of running both machines. Operating SigmaNEST’s AutoDynamic nesting, a registered function, has allowed them access to simultaneous automatic part nesting and tooling assignment, offering many non-value added processes associated with punch machine programming.

This is a huge improvement from the traditional single part programs of the past. After the installation of SigmaNEST to their new punch machine they are able to easily switch between the laser and punch machine and program the jobs out much faster.

United Displaycraft is headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois. They design and manufacture permanent point-of-purchase displays, store fixtures, and illuminating signs. For over 50 years they have been using high tech equipment to produce successful marketing solutions for customers like Sketchers, Nabisco, and Hitachi to name a few. Their findings are that customers benefit from their ability to blend the latest manufacturing techniques with the craftsmanship and flexibility of a wide range of manual operations.

Tony White, Manufacturing Engineer, in a recent interview at their Des Plaines facility said, “When we bought the new machine we evaluated different options and we chose SigmaNEST for its ease of use and ability to have one programming system for both our laser and punch machines.”

SigmaNEST’s latest Version 7 programs both turret, rail, and shear punch machines. Some of the main features include AutoDynamic nesting and auto tooling. Safety clamp zones and repositioning are also included in the software. New turret management capabilities allow for tool loading and floor turret options. Manual programming has also been added as an option. The software supports part marking, chain and common line cutting, multi axis bevel contouring, automatic true shape nesting, multi torch nesting, and more. The benefits include reducing scrap, improving machine throughput, tracking remnants, and controlling inventory, thereby reducing time and costs.
